Expressive Writing

Journaling Prompts:

  • How are you feeling right now? Can you give the feeling a shape or colour? Try to write about it.

  • Think of a memory that still makes you feel something strong—what happened?

  • What thoughts or worries have been bouncing around in your head today?

  • Is there a part of you that feels ignored or left out? Write or draw what it wants to say.

  • Just start writing or doodling without thinking—what comes out?

  • Is there a feeling that’s hard for you to deal with? Write about it.

  • Write a letter to someone (they could be far away or gone) and say what you didn’t get to say.

  • Think about a time recently when you felt really happy, alive, or connected—what was that like?

  • What is your body trying to tell you today? (Tired, excited, nervous…?)

  • Is there a dream, thought, or feeling that keeps coming back? What might it mean?

  • If you could let out everything without worrying what anyone thinks, what would you say?

  • Ask yourself: what kind words or support do you need to hear from your own heart today?
