Power Journaling for Control and Letting Go — Building Self Trust and Emotional Strength

Some things are in your control.

Like, how you speak to yourself. Whether you ask for help. Where you place your attention. How you care for your body and mind.

Some things are not. Like, other people’s behaviour. Past events. Outcomes you cannot force. The timing of how things change.

Power journaling is a reflective writing practice that helps you separate what is yours to carry from what is not. When you place both on the page, you create mental clarity. What belongs within your control can be strengthened through intention and action. What lies outside your control can be acknowledged, respected, and gradually released.

This process supports emotional resilience, reduces anxiety, and builds self trust. You begin to see where your energy is best invested and where surrender is wiser than struggle.

    • Make two lists. One for what is inside your control and one for what is outside it. Be honest and specific.

    • For each item inside your control, ask what small action would strengthen your position.

    • For each item outside your control, ask what release would look like. What would it mean to set this down?

    • Where are you being called to trust more deeply, either in your inner wisdom or in a greater intelligence beyond you?
